DuBose signs with Delta State
Michael DuBose signed a letter of intent to swim for Delta State University on Monday, November 16, 2009 at the Eastern Shore Aquatics Center in Daphne. Surrounded by his parents Michael and Tricia DuBose, sister Jessica, coaches and teammates from the Southern Waters Aquatic Team (SWAT), DuBose officially accepted the scholarship from the Cleveland, MS school.
For the 2008-2009 season, Dubose was an Alabama State Championship swimmer in the 100-yard butterfly and an All-State swimmer. He has been named an All-County swimmer for the last five years and lettered in swimming for six years for the Daphne High School swim team. As Team Co-Captain, DuBose leads by example and is known for motivating teammates during competitions.
As a year-round competitive swimmer for SWAT, DuBose qualified for Jr. Nationals the last three years, was named to Southeast Swimming top ten and is a team record holder for multiple events.
“Over his swimming career, Michael has devoted the time and energy required to become a member of a collegiate swim team,” said SWAT’s Head Coach Rich Suhs. “The SWAT family is proud of Michael and we know that he will be successful as a student-athlete at Delta State.”
Off the pool deck, Michael holds a 3.4 GPA in advanced studies and is the recipient of academic achievements and awards at DHS. He is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, First Priority Club, and Key Club and attends Daphne United Methodist Church. |
